I took a trip to California. My camera was dead but here are some instagrams. There was a pelican on Venice Pier just waiting for the fishermen to feed him. I took this picture from a couple feet away.
I had the best sushi I’ve ever eaten by sushi chef Nozawa. It felt like I was in Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

This is one of my favorite old signs in Venice. Part of what I remember and miss most from living in LA when I was a kid was the 70’s aesthetic that is all over LA, especially the valley.
We made this meal with fresh veggies from the farmer’s market. One of the best things about southern California is that they have such a killer growing season. Pretty much everything is available all year round at farmer’s markets.
This was some crazy delicious onigiri from Sunny Blue in Venice.
