MN State Fair 2011
Round two of Minnesota State fair. Last year was my first year there and it was awesome. And now, here are some pics from this year’s festivities…

Photos are all courtesy of Evan. He’s got the fancy iPhone 4 and these pics are pretty beautiful. Ok, now read the following captions in your best Minnesotan accent:

First things first, ya gotta have yer cheese curds. Ohhh yeah ya know. A Minnesota state fair staple fooouad groouap. They’re battered and fried in a deep fryer.

The honey and tooasted sunflower seed ice cream just mighta been the best ice cream I ever ate ya know.

You can’t forget about yer corndog. Very easily my favorite junk food, but I only really allow myself to have ‘em once a year at the fair, so I had three. Shoulda done more. Poncho Dogs are better than Pronto Pups in my opinion. I like the really corny yellow batter because it tastes really good and crisps up nicely.

Tom Thumb cinnamon sugar mini donuts. They’re sooo gooouad.
Now don’t forget there’s a lot more here for ya, so make sure to click “read more” to see the rest of these treats.

Farm fresh roasted corn on the cob. Tastiest corn you’ll get.

Now this might come as a bit of a surprise but the turkey sandwich was unbelievably good. Musta been cooked in butter or something, cause it was tasty as all H-E-double hockeysticks.

Summa the crowds enjoying the fair.

Can’t forget yer pork chop on a stick. Seasoned and grilled to maximum tastiness. Just try not to visit here right after seeing the baby pigs.

Oooh and here we got the deep fried pickle chips. Another fair favorite.

New to this year’s fair, we got the Minneapple Pie stand, with deep fried apple pies and cinnamon ice cream.

Ya can’t come to the fair without visiting the farm animals ya know. This here alpaca guy was one of my favorites.

And then ya got the seed art of course. Here’s Lucille Ball made entirely of natural Minnesotan seeds and pine needles.

And to top it all off we had the famous Sweet Martha’s fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Ooohhhhh what a treeeeat.

Now how greeeat were these pictures. Cheers to the excellent Evan Husney for these beauties.
I love you Minnesota. I’ll be back soon.
